Rep Nunes Retires as Progressive Movement Grows

Progressive voters will continue to organize and mobilize for families

Sacramento, CA –  Congressman Devin Nunes announced that he will retire at the end of the year to take a position as Trump Media and Technology’s chief executive officer. Nunes represents California's 22nd Congressional District, which covers Tulare and Fresno counties in the San Joaquin Valley, one of California’s largest battleground regions. He is also a ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and a member of the Ways and Means Committee.

Pablo Rodriguez, Executive Director for Communities for A New California Action Fund released the following statement:

"Rep. Devin Nunes has been out of touch with the changing demographics of the new Central Valley. He has consistently chosen the politics of conspiracy, fear and division over the people he is supposed to represent. We’ve worked diligently to make this former conservative-leaning region an election battleground and the movement that Latinos and young voters have started will not stop when he leaves office. We will continue to organize and mobilize to make sure we have a representative who will be a leader for us and who is truly dedicated to addressing the issues that most impact our families, such as climate change, education, and the economy.”

Communities for a New California Action Fund is building a new power in the San Joaquin, Central and Imperial valleys by inspiring working-class Californians to engage, activate and fight for social change in their communities. With the help of staff and volunteers from the very communities we serve, CNC AF organizes and educates residents about policy issues that impact our rural families and organize to improve our neighborhoods.
