Roughly eight weeks away, California’s recall election of Governor Gavin Newsom will take place on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. In response to the recall election, most Californians have looked up from their phone screens for long enough to collectively ask, “wait, what?”
Yes, that’s right! The recall election is happening on Tuesday, September 14 and will be a bargain, with an estimated cost of just $276 million! This is only the second time in California’s history that a gubernatorial recall is taking place, and this monumental election has the potential to change the course of the state’s future.
When asked about her thoughts on the recall election, Coachella resident and political enthusiast Elizabeth Garcia said, “Oh, I heard that might happen at some point.” When informed that the recall is happening and taking place on September 14, she replied, “what?”
Although California has the highest vaccination rate of any state and has fared particularly well throughout the course of the pandemic, some are still seeking to recall Newsom. In spite of the exuberant cost of the election, Republicans are heavily pushing this recall, with support from esteemed national figures such as the honorable Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee.
Fellow California residents have echoed similar sentiments to Ms. Garcia. Sacramento history teacher Jeff Walters recently went on record saying that he had, “absolutely no plans,” for September 14. Walters followed this comment by asking, “Wait, what’s happening on September 14th?”
While many Californians are still unaware of the recall election happening on Tuesday, September 14, you are now part of the informed minority! Proudly show your friends how smart you are by telling them all about the recall election happening on Tuesday, September 14!
