REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM

Reproductive freedom was on the ballot in November 2022.

In response to the majority-conservative U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to take away women’s rights, Proposition 1 amended California’s Constitution to prohibit the state from denying or interfering with personal choices related to family planning. Prop. 1 reaffirmed that individuals have a fundamental right to choose to have an abortion and to use or refuse contraceptives. 

We celebrate its passage and remind our neighbors that everyone deserves reproductive freedom and the right to their privacy. By passing Prop. 1, Californians can:

1) Protect health care as a right

2) Give people the freedom to make their own medical decisions with their health care providers

3) Ensure abortions remain safe and legal in California

4) Block legislators from taking away or limiting reproductive rights in the future

Family planning is a personal choice and people should have the freedom to make their own medical decisions with their physician based on what is best for the individual.
